With just over two months until Christmas, it is not too late to drop a few pounds in time for any festive celebrations planned and the big day itself. Dr Michael Mosley, diet expert and creator of the Fast 800 has shared his advice for anyone looking to tone up over the next few weeks and some may even lose nearly two stone before Santa Claus arrives.
According to the NHS, obesity, which is the term to describe a person who is very overweight, with a lot of body fat, is a common problem in the UK.
It is estimated that around one in four adults and around one in every five children aged 10 to 11 are obese.
With the nights drawing in and Christmas fast approaching, it is not too late to lose some weight – and keep it off over the festive season.
Dr Michael Mosley previously explained how “some people, following the Fast 800 weight-loss plan, have managed to shed two stone in just ten weeks”.

So what does The Fast 800 Easy involve?
The diet expert describes it as “flexible” and suggests those wanting to lose weight should “start with The Very Fast 800”.
The “intensive, rapid weight-loss stage” can kick things off.
“Eat 800 to 1,000 calories a day, spread out over two or three low-carbohydrate meals, and try to avoid snacking,” he says.
“Stay on this plan for two to 12 weeks, depending on how much weight you want to lose.

“Some people on it like to spread their 800 calories over three meals.
“Others find it easier to eat them in two, with a late-morning brunch and an early evening meal.
“Likewise, some people prefer to consume up to half their calories as meal-replacement shakes [but] others want real food for every meal,” Dr Michael added.
For those who feel The Very Fast 800 is a little to extreme, there is always The New 5:2.
This is where you eat 800 calories a day on two days of the week, and a normal Mediterranean-style diet for the remaining five days.

“This version of the diet should slot seamlessly into your everyday life, while promoting steady weight loss.”
Dr Michael also advises mapping out your meals in advance in order to stay on track.
“Particularly if you are cooking for others,” he continued.
“That way you are far less likely to succumb to temptation or end up snacking while cooking.”
“Once you’ve hit your weight-loss goal, move on to The Way Of Life maintenance programme: a healthy Mediterranean way of eating – not calorie-counting but exercising portion control,” Dr Michael said.
“An easy way to do this is to double portion sizes of our low-cal Fast 800 Easy recipes, or add extra protein to a dish, such as fish, chicken or meat, veg, or less-starchy carbs such as beans or lentils.
“However, try to maintain a diet that’s low in sugar and starchy carbohydrates, such as bread and pasta, to prevent the weight creeping back on.
“If you find your clothes start to feel a bit too tight, you know what to do,” he previously told Daily Mail.
