With its believed origins more than 5,000 years ago in the Indus Saraswati Valley of South Asia, yoga has a firm place in the modern world.
According to a 2016 study by Yoga Alliance and Yoga Journal, yoga practitioners in the U.S. numbered more than 36 million, with spending on classes, clothing, equipment and accessors rising to $16 billion annually.
