New Delhi: When Swami Sivananda, dressed in a white kurta and dhoti entered the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan to receive the Padma Shri, everyone gave him a standing ovation. He was bare feet, and before receiving the award, he prostrated before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind, The guest at the civil investiture ceremony gave him another round of applause. In return, PM Modi bowed and touched the ground in reverence for the 125-year-old Yoga guru who has garnered respect from all kinds of people during his lifetime. Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, showed his deep respect and tweeted, “The power of yoga. A life spanning 125 years of dedication! The grace and dignity of Swami Sivananda are both humbling & inspiring. Proud to belong to the country of Yoga’s origin.”
