Fitness with Averee: Using a medicine ball for a stronger core – Golfweek

Stability is king when it comes to the golf swing. If you’re unbalanced, it will be tough to hit consistently good golf shots.
Averee Dovsek is once again reporting from Xymogym in Orlando, Florida, this time with Golfweek‘s Director of Instruction Steve Scott to demonstrate an exercise called ‘stirring the pot.’ All you need for this one is a medicine ball.
“He’s keeping a straight back, he’s in a plank position. Get those core muscles tight and engaged,” Averee said in the video.

“When I stepped away from the game back in 2015 and 2016 and kind of stopped playing full time, I got away from golf specific training,” said Justin Leonard.
“Just in the last year or so I have gotten back into much more specific golf training. The swing trainer cuts my time in half because I am able to do such specific workouts. I can get right to it, work on my core, stability and rotational movements,” said Leonard.
