At this time of year, many people are looking for quick weight loss solutions, but one expert suggests “ditching the diet” and turning your attention to your mindset. Steve Miller told This Morning his ideas and claimed fad diets are never the answer to shifting the pounds.
Steve favours a hypnosis approach to weight loss and has several tips to help people curb bad eating habits.
Back in 2019, he told Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes about his ideas – some of which were a little ‘out there’ and controversial.
He began by explaining: “The reality is, we have to make weight loss a lot more simple for people.
“What I say to people is ‘Diets? Ditch.’ And I’ll tell you why; rigid, restriction – do you know what happens when you’re on a diet as well? It makes you think about food even more.
“I absolutely want you to talk to the food,” Steve remarked.

“So what you do, and this is a message to everyone out there – keep the food simple.
“Look at what you’ve been eating when you’re too fat and then turn it into a regime of 80/20, eating 80 percent healthy and 20 percent a bit of what you fancy.
“And of course, portion control and what I do to get people to understand portion control is sit eating, you get your old fat photo that you’re moving away from, so you look at it, but at the same time, so you’re not just beating yourself up, you look at an item of clothing that you are desperate to get into.

“What you’re doing here is hypnotising your mind beautifully,” he added.
“You then talk to yourself. Let’s imagine, I’m looking at the muffin, I know it’s not good for me, and I talk to the muffin ‘Muffin, I am in control of you’.
“It might sound ridiculous – you don’t have to say it out loud.”
Steve was then asked what to do if you were eating outside your home, he explained: “If you’re in a restaurant, I use warning signs in my wallet and it reminds me to be in control.
“Do I want people to give up junk food? No. It’s all about control, mindset control. steve miller this morning weight loss “I have signs as well, you can put them around your house and in the car,” Steve continued. “If you’re trying to lose weight and it’s [tasty junk food] teasing you, tell it to ‘fat off’.
“Another tip, when you’re walking around the supermarket, be telling yourself [you’re] ‘too gorgeous to be fat.’”
Steve also had another sign which read “fat destroys” and explained the “important bit” about reminding yourself of this.
He said: “Being too fat leads to several health issues, but also your self-esteem as well – fat destroys self-esteem.
“You have to become a fan of yourself, and can I say something a little bit controversial, you have to have two emotions to lose weight and keep it off – that’s the key.

“You have to be disgusted with fat, not the person, disgust is a great motivator, and be motivational about yourself and potential as a slimmer person.”
Steve finished with: “Diets for me – no. You can still have a muffin a week, but not four.”
The weight-loss guru also suggests putting post-it notes on the items of food you should eat a small amount of.
“You’ve got to have self-discipline and courage to be strong, at the same time you’ve got to have inspiration about yourself.”
Steve also claims he used hypnosis for his own weight loss – which led him to lose over four stone.
